Autumn is truly a season of change. As we transition from Summer into Autumn, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. The days are becoming noticeably shorter, our children are headed back to school, and the weather is shifting.
So how can we stay grounded and present in the moment? Here are a few tips to keep you on the path to embracing all of life’s changes this Autumn, and how to do it with joy.
Embrace the Beauty of Constant Change
Start by recognizing that you and the world around you are in transition. Sometimes we get so caught up in the excitement of back-to-school or back-to-work, we don’t even notice the entire world is enduring a cyclone of change.
Take a few five-minute breaks each day just to reflect on all the change that’s happening in the world around you. Go for a walk in the park during your lunch break, and bask in the changing colours of the leaves.
Experience the Beauty of Nature
As we say goodbye to the summer heat, we can embrace the moderate temperatures of Autumn. Make it a point to get out in nature as much as possible.
Regardless of your age, saying farewell to summer can be hard. At our core, we are beings of nature. We thrive on sunshine and being outside. So as the days start getting shorter and the temperatures begin to dip, make a point to celebrate this time of year by getting outside. Savour the last few months of sunshine before the cool winter temperatures arrive comes.
Live for Today
While it’s important to plan for the future, be careful not to let the future distract you from the present. On the other hand, avoid dwelling on the past. What’s done is done, and to worry about the future only invites added stress and worry.
We do not know what the future will hold. So what’s the point in worrying about it? Live in the present moment and enjoy it while you can. There is so much to be gained when you focus on the present moment, to include taking in the beauty of life and reducing your stress levels.
Choose Happiness
Sometimes we need to reset our minds and step away to re-establish our goals. Try to remain flexible, keep an open mind, and prescribe to positive thinking. Make happiness your primary goal. We are not defined by one perspective. At any moment, you have the power to take a deep breath and reset – to choose happiness.
Surround yourself with positive people who make you happy. Participate in activities that make you feel good and fill your life with joy. We only have so many trips around the sun – make every day count.
